M3GAN is an android and generative model with advanced AI, hence the name, and had a toyline of dolls. She was created by the roboticist Gemma Forrester to aid her niece Cady cope with the grief and loneliness from the death of her parents. Cady is M3GAN's primary user and was programmed to protect Cady from all harm, both physical and emotional. Eventually, she goes rogue and misinterprets what "protecting" Cady meant, and without proper ethical guidelines and limitations, she got to the point of killing people.
